A Dream Come True

It's amazing when it happens. When something you've been dreaming actually comes true. And it's no longer a dream, but a dream come true. I love those moments. And while I wish they happened more often, I know that it's probably better that they don't. Because they are rare. And things that are rare are cherished. And I like knowing that I won't take them for granted when they do happen.

As you know, I read a lot. And I always have. And ever since I was a little girl, I've been dreaming about Prince Edward Island (PEI) because that is where Anne of Green Gables grew up. And Anne wasn't just a character in a book for me. She is a kindred spirit. And I've held on to that even as an adult. I quote her -- 'Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it' -- and I try to emulate her sense of childlike fascination with the world.

So, you can imagine my excitement when we decided to visit PEI for the very first time at the end of the summer (I know, I'm late on this post, but it's been a busy fall! *smile*). I couldn't believe my dream was actually becoming my dream come true.

I cried when I saw the red cliffs of PEI from our car for the very first time...
To dreaming. And to having those dreams come true.

I wish for you that they do.

Balance

Life gets busy and sometimes I find myself overwhelmed with the knowledge that days come and go, never to return again. I collect those thoughts, take a deep breathe, remind myself that there is still a today and a tomorrow and that I will do my very best to stay in the moment and make the most of the time I have.

I struggle with balance and knowing that it is ok to say 'no.' And when I need a little help, I read a quote I keep close by...

"that which matters the least should never give way to that which matters the most."

It helps me prioritize.
And that's important, because, when I think about it. It's my life. And it's precious. And I only have a finite number of moments. So I plan on making them the best they can be :)

Biking

I've enjoyed falling in love with new spaces and places with my bike as a guide. One of our favorite rides takes us over the Manhattan Bridge to Brooklyn.
The view is truly magnificent.
Along the west side bike path we found beautiful sculptures that a woman constructs with rocks along the Hudson River. She comes every Saturday to check on them.
I can't wait to see what Fall brings in our adventures...

Anjuli & Tyler . Engage

Anjuli and Tyler have a calm peace that exists between them. They hold hands when no one is watching. He tucks her long hair behind her ear when the wind blows. And even when they're not *quite* comfortable in front of a camera, they find a reason to laugh and to smile. And that's when you realize you've just witnessed the core of their love.

We spent an amazing Saturday afternoon in Central Park together. One of those warm September days that makes you grateful to have someone to share it with.

Enjoy. I know I did *smile*
What can I say? Sometimes you just gotta have fun :)
Anj and Ty~ Thank you for a beautiful day and for letting me document a piece of your life together. I wish you a lifetime of love and laughter.

Wedding . Heather + Michael

It was a beautiful day. Two wonderful people promised to share their lives in front of their closest family and friends. When you look at Heather and Michael you can see the love they share. I found myself smiling and laughing and, yes, even crying (just a little) throughout the day as I watched everyone build a memory that will last a lifetime.
I knew the day was going to be stylish the minute I saw Heather's beautiful shoes.

The girls got ready at Heather's parent's house and we had such a great time.
Heather, you are so beautiful.
Like I said, the girls had a fabulous time together...

There's something very special between a Daddy and a Daughter on a wedding day. This was the moment where Heather's Dad saw her for the very first time.
The boys were having a great time relaxing before the wedding and looked so handsome. One of my favorite moments during a wedding happens when the groom sees the bride for the very first time, walking down the aisle. It's magical and full of emotion.

We took a quick ride to an old barn I saw down the road and caught the last few moments of light before night descended.
Heather and Michael - What a beautiful day! Thank you for bringing me into your lives and asking me to photograph your wedding. Here's to a life filled with lots of love and laughter.
