In the 'Right Now'

I was really sick last week and found myself lying down in my apartment, unable to gather enough energy to go outside. This week I've finally started to feel better, but am realizing that the slower I take it, the more energy I conserve and the longer I can last throughout the day. Who knew (insert sarcasm)?

Taking it slow has especially been eye opening for me during my walks to and from work. My walking route takes me through a beautiful park downtown and usually I'm itching to get to the subway as quickly as I can to get to wherever it is I'm going. But this week I'm taking my time and noticing details that I've always been too busy to truly see. Flowers. Sunlight scattering through the leaves. People's faces.

And I realized that I need to stop hurrying to the next place, checking my iPhone for the next piece of information, and just stop . take a breathe . and look around.

Because the place where you are . right now . is beautiful.

Quote of the Day

For attractive lips speak words of kindness
For lovely eyes seek out the good in people
For beautiful hair let a child run their hands through it once a day

For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone

People even more than things have to be restored renewed revived reclaimed and redeemed; never throw out anyone

Remember if you ever need a helping hand you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands : one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.

favorite time of year

There is a time here in New York that I love. Sweaters are optional (although you'll usually find me in one because I'm always cold). The park is turning subtle shades of green. Flowers are bursting with the bright colors of the rainbow. And the world around me just feels a bit 'softer'.
As always, I find my words don't ever quite do these moments justice, so I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
And with that...please come with me through a tour of Central Park in April...
I love my city :)
