Our New Home

We've waited very patiently. (Two years in fact) But I guess those who say 'good things come to those who wait' were absolutely right. Today Ryan and I walked through our very new apartment for the first time and boy was it an amazing experience. I've included some shots below to remember what our blank canvas looked like before we started to add our personal touch to the space.

The architect is someone who pays attention to the environment and the results are really beautiful. We love that the building itself fits nicely with the surrounding area on the Upper East Side--an area of Manhattan we have grown to love over the past few years.

The entry to the building really took my breath away and I absolutely loved all of the attention to detail--from the patterns on the ceilings to the beautiful archways.
There are a few common areas in the building and one my favorites is a really pretty outdoor patio where you can hang out and enjoy the sun.
We took the elevator up to our floor and I took a deep breath as I slowly walked in through what will soon be our front door. I had been dreaming about this space for so long that I honestly couldn't believe I was actually seeing it. I walked through the rooms, listened as my sneakers echoed through the empty space, looked out the window of what will become our living room...and I smiled. It didn't quite feel like home yet, but I knew we had a ton of potential to work with.

The next two hours were spent analyzing every detail to make sure nothing was left unchecked. We were so lucky to have my Dad up to help us look through everything. He does this on a regular basis for his job and I honestly don't think we could have done it without him. So, thanks Dad!!!
The foyer...
The kitchen is wonderful. I can't wait to cook our very first meal together :)
The living room has beautiful windows that let in really nice light. And there's a lot of wall space for paintings and photography which I'm really excited about.
Hard at work :)Our very own washer and dryer!!! No more Sunday afternoon laundry days!
One of the things we were most excited about was the master bathroom. It has a glass shower with a separate tub. I haven't taken a bubble bath in years and I can't wait to relax and rest the muscles after a long photo shoot :)
No more need to share while we're getting ready in the morning!
Our bedroom is going to be very simple with clean lines and cool colors. I was standing in front of the windows in the room when I took this picture...with my Dad's shoes making an appearance :)
This next photo was a total surprise. I knew we had a walk-in closet, but I had no idea they were going to do such a beautiful job installing all of the shelves and hanging rods. I was stunned.
When friends and family come to visit they will have their own room and their very own bathroom all to themselves. I can't wait to have visitors!

We honestly can't believe the day has finally arrived. The next few weeks are going to be crazy with painting and moving, but we're going to make it fun and I promise to take a lot of pictures as we transform our new space into our first home together.

Until next time...I leave you with pictures of our excitement :)
