Toys

When I was younger I had what I would now consider a pretty typical collection of toys to keep me occupied...Barbie, Mr Potato Head, building blocks, and the oh so fun Playmobile. My brother and I learned how to create our own imaginary world and we had a lot of fun playing together while we were growing up. And while it wasn't always easy, having toys also taught us to share.

Now that I'm older I still have toys that bring joy to my life and allow me to explore. If I had to pick I would say that my kindle has become my favorite. It allows me to access books anytime, anywhere and if that isn't enough, it has also saved me a ton of bookshelf space now that I'm not buying a new book every week...and this is very key if you live in a small apartment in NYC. :)

But tonight my kindle might have some competition...

I came home this evening after a long day at work and heard the wonderful news from the front desk that "I had a package to sign for..." I was giddy with delight because I knew there was only one thing coming for me in the mail...a new lens!

I'm leaving for California this Friday for a friend's wedding and then I'll be driving up the coast. As I was planning my trip I decided that it was going to be a photographer's dream and I knew I would be taking pictures every minute I was out there. And I decided it was time to try something new and fun and challenging. So, I've rented a wide angle lens I have never had the chance to use before to see what I can create. I'm so excited to bring my new toy to California...because it will help me see the world in a new way...and really, isn't that what toys can do sometimes? Help you enter a world that's new and exciting and interesting?

And yes, I promise to share when I get back. Pictures that is.
